Stanton Moore Trio Born and raised in New Orleans, Stanton Moore is a dedicated drummer and performer. As a founding member of the Grammy-nominated funk band, Galactic, Moores infectious style has allowed him to collaborate with luminaries Irma Thomas, Joss Stone, Tom Morello, George Porter Jr, Dr. Lonnie Smith and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Driven and inspired by the thriving music scene of his hometown - which includes such greats as Professor Longhair, Doctor John, James Black and The Meters - Moores name is now mentioned amongst the Big Easy masters. Tribute to Charlie Gabriel with Lawrence SieberthLawrence Sieberth is a versatile New Orleans pianist, composer, and producer whose work spans jazz, classical, Afro-Cuban, and Rs music scene.Tonight, Sieberth pays tribute to Charlie Gabriel. Reeds player Charlie Gabriel is a fourth generation musician from New Orleans who began playing professionally at age 11 with the Eureka Brass Band upon the urging of his father. The Gabriels moved to Detroit in the 1940s, where as a teen, Charlie was asked to join Lionel Hamptons band, and by his 20s was leading the hard-bop and pre-Motown movement with best friend, trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. Gabriel also performed in Aretha Franklins orchestra. 60 years later and upon his return to New Orleans, Preservation Hall invited Charlie to play where at 94 years young now, he plays the Hall and enjoys collaborating with master pianist Lawrence Sieberth. Mahmoud Chouki New World EnsembleMahmoud Mood Chouki is a Moroccan master guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator currently living and working in New Orleans. His art draws together music from around the globe.. In addition to training and performing with conservatories around the world, Chouki also teaches music at the Lyce Franais de la Nouvelle Orlans and is the music curator for the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA). Most recently, he composed the music score for the 2021 Sundance Award winning film, Ma Belle, Ma Beauty.
